            <text>&lt;p&gt;Founded by Jadwiga Kon, wife of the Russian artist of Polish descent, Eug&amp;egrave;ne (Eugeniusz) Zak (1884-1926), the Galerie Zak was an important venue for the presentation of Latin American and Polish art. During World War II Jadwiga Kon and her son were taken to Auschwitz where they died in 1944. Although French collaborators liquidated the contents of the gallery in 1941, art dealer Wladimir Raykis, executor of Jadwiga's will, reopened its doors in 1946.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
