Gallery Description
Alexander Bernheim opened Galerie Bernheim at 8, rue Laffite in the 1860s mainly exhibiting the Barbizon school and early Impressionist work. In 1901 he was joined by his sons Josse and Gaston in organizing an exhibit of Vincent Van Gogh's work, after which galerie is reshaped into Bernheim-Jeune and rapidly became a premier galerie of modern art.
